In Colmo, in the municipality of Dolceacqua, the Ascari brothers began a providential recovery of land that had been uncultivated and abandoned for decades in 2010, planting a hectare of vineyards exclusively with Rossese grapes.
Today, the vineyard area has doubled, with the potential for growth of another four hectares, which will be planted as the company consolidates its presence on the market.
The agricultural activity and all stages of vinification are carried out personally by Alex Ascari for a production of around 6,000 bottles.
In the cellar, traditional red vinification is carried out in steel, with a week of maceration on the skins.
The Territory
The Riviera di Ponente is a strip of hilly land in the western part of Liguria, facing the Mediterranean to the south and protected to the north by the last foothills of the Alps.
Cultivated on rugged hills overlooking the sea, the native vines and olive groves produce unique, high-quality products with a strong territorial identity. The work of our winegrowers and olive growers is truly heroic, carried out mainly by hand, focused on quality and using sustainable and selective techniques.
The food and wine tradition of western Liguria is ancient, and in recent years the wine and olive sectors have shown great dynamism and a focus on excellence, now recognised both in Italy and abroad.
